Cannabis Strains Useful to Medical Marijuana Patients
There are three distinctly different kinds of Marijuana/Cannabis. They are: Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis. Cannabis Ruderalis is a variety that grows wild in parts of Eastern Europe and Russia. It’s occasionally used in hybrids (an intentional crossing of two different types of Cannabis) to help the resulting plants be better able to cope with the cold weather. It is not generally thought of as a consumer strain, so we’ll confine our talk to Sativa’s and Indica’s.
Cannabis Sativa
Sativas are just about the opposite of indicas. They are tall, thin plants, with much narrower leaves and grow a lighter green in color. They grow very quickly and can reach heights of 20 feet in a single season. They originally come from Colombia, Mexico, Thailand and Southeast Asia. Once flowering has begun, they can take anywhere from 10 to 16 weeks to fully mature. Flavors range from earthy to sweet and fruity. The stone of a Sativa is cerebral, up and energetic.
Effects of Sativa (high THC, low CBN/CBD):
more stimulating and uplifting energizing and thought provoking increases focus and creativity supports immune system best for use in daytime Benefits: reduces nausea stimulates the appetite fights drepression positive, uplifting, cerebral effect energizes and stimulates promotes creativity relieves headaches and migraines relaxes muscles, relieves pain acts as an expectorant
Cannabis Indica
Indicas originally come from the hash producing countries of the world like Afghanistan, Morocco, and Tibet. They are short dense plants, with broad leaves and often grow a darker green. After flowering starts they will be mature in 6 to 8 weeks. The buds will be thick and dense, with flavors and aromas ranging from pungent skunk to sweet and fruity. The smoke from an Indica is generally a body type stone, relaxing and laid back.
Effects of Indica (lower THC, higher CBN/CBD):
Generally more physical than cerebral sedation, pain relief and relaxation best for later in the day and bedtime perhaps better for anxiety than depression Benefits: reduces pain muscle relaxant relieves spasms, reduces seizures reduces inflammation aids sleep reduces anxiety and stress reduces nausea stimulates appetite relieves headaches and migraines reduces intra-occular pressure bronchio-dilator and expectorant
Hybrid Cannabis
Most cannabis seeds and medicine available today are from hybrids - crosses of Sativa and Indica varieties. This allows cultivators to enjoy and select for various desired characteristics of growth, appearance and effect.
The genetics and hence the effects of one lineage will usually be dominant. For example: Indica-dominant crosses are for pain relief, with the sativa component helping with energy and activity levels.
Sativa-dominant crosses are good for stimulating appetite, with the indica component helping to reduce body pain and increase relaxation.

Choose Your Smoking Method
Joints - For those not in the know, a joint is merely marijuana wrapped and rolled in cigarette papers. Suprisingly, this is one of the more popular methods of marijuana consumption by novices. Why suprising? First, it's difficult to roll a joint decently. Second, it's one of the most innefficient ways of smoking. Joints, however, are extremely portable, and a well-rolled one is easy to use and pass, making it popular for fairly large parties, chock full of novice users.
Pipes
Pipes are simple devices by nature. Generally, they involve a tube-like shape that curves upwards at one end. Marijuana is placed into one end (called the bowl), lit, and then the smoke is sucked through a small hole in the bottom of the bowl, through the chamber and into your mouth at the other end. Pipes are sold in a variety of sizes, usually made of glass, and a crude one can be made in a pinch with nothing more than tinfoil, though this is a bad idea due to the threat of alzheimer's. Much easier to build, and usually less fragile than a bong, but lacks some of the nicer effects, such as cooling. Cornering If you're offered the "green hit" (first hit), take it, but don't light the entire bowl. You can take a nice hit and still leave most of the green intact. This is called "cornering the bowl." Hold the lighter at the end of the bowl and suck the flame towards one corner of the weed. If the bowl is packed, there should be enough green for three or four people.
Bongs
Also known as water pipes, the most basic of these contraptions are basically an advanced pipe. However, as the smoke is pulled through the bong, it goes through a sizeable amount of water. First off, as long as the water's cool, this has a nice effect on the tempature smoke, making it very lung-friendly to novice smokers. Once again, bongs can be bought or made, but either way they're usually fairly sizeable, and fragile.
Vaporize
Vaporizing herbs eliminates harmful carcinogens, smoke and tar producing unbeatable potency and flavor. This happens by forcing hot air through the herbs to a point just before combustion occurs. The result is a slightly visible vapor containing only your herb's active ingredients, delivering greater efficiency.

Cooking with Medical Marijuana
The Art of cooking marijuana or praparing a recipe with marijuana (cannabis) is not always easy one of the the first things to learn is how to cook the marijuana up and turn it into butter so that you can the select a recipe to put the butter in. The first time you make marijuana butter and then try to make a cake for example may well taste like shit( excuse my french) but a few tips on the subject may well make you marijuana brownies or cookies taste much better. It is also possible to cook the cannabis straight into a cake for example this method is much less efficient though.
Most recipes call for the making of a certain quantity of "Marijuana Butter", which is then used as butter would normally be used in a cooking situation. THC is not a water-soluble compound, so butter would naturally be a good carrier substance for ingestion. Just substitute butter with "bud butter" next time you bake.
What are the effects of eating marijuana prooducts
It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to even up to 4-5 hours for the effects to set in. The biggest problem here is to find the right amount. When smoked, the effects set in almost immediately, so it is easy to judge how much you need. After eating some weed, some users are too impatient, and they think they need more. While it is not possible to overdose on weed, the effects of eating too much cannabis are not pleasant. You may feel sick, confused, unable to move or talk, and your coordination may be heavily affected. These effects may last a long time, much longer than when smoked. It is therefore important not to eat too much. Start with a low dose, and increase it the next time, if needed. Experiment to find the right amount. If you eat too much, a high dose of vitamin c (200mg or more) may help to make you feel better.
When eaten, pot takes longer to work, depending on: the amount and quality of the weed/hash, the rate of your digestion system, and the amount of food you've eaten beforehand. For best results, we recommend not eating anything at least 2-3 hours before eating your marijuana.
Canna Flour
Medical Marijuana Flour Marijuana can be cooked into any favorite recipe. However most people do not care for the taste so it's important to chose recipes that will mask the flavor. Chocolate and tomato sauce are often used for that reason.
To prepare medical marijuana for cooking, the stems and seeds should be removed with a sift or kitchen strainer and the resulting powder ground to a flour like consistency. Only grind as much as you will use at any one time as the cannabinoids will quickly degrade and be lost once the medical marijuana has been finely ground up. Grinding does not make medical marijuana any more effective but it does make it more palatable. Save the stems to make cannabutter.
Add a cup or so of the medical marijuana flour to any recipe. Because of the great variability in cannabinoid ratios, potency and quality among the various cannabis strains, it will take some experimentation to determine the optimum amount of medical marijuana flour to add or portion size to consume.
An excellent option for the novice medical marijuana cook is to use a pre-packaged brownie mix. Simply follow the directions on the box and add your medical marijuana to the batter. You may also wish to add an extra table spoon of margarine or oil and an 1/8 cup of water.
